PO BOX 596 EVANS, COLORADO 80620 November 5, 1969 Board of County Commissioners Weld County Court House Greeley, Colorado 80631 Gentlemen; For your information we are enclosing expenditures and income for Weld County Landfill, Site #1 from date of it's opening to November I, 1969. Some of these expenses are a one time expense; such as installation of well, toilet and water system. (Water system was installed to help fight fires that sometimes occur in dump.) Also, we have incurred much more expense and machine time removing old trees and car bodies that were left on prem— ises; also, due to extremely wet weather in September and October, we have had to purchase over 300 @u. Yds. of oversize rock, at $2.50 per yd. There are still numerous car bodies that we will have to remove to complete our excess up the river bank. After that, our costs, we are hoping, will be lowered somewhat and we hope it will show us a return on our investment besides accomplishing the prime reason for entering into this landfill contract, which was to protect ground that we have an interest in and adjoining ground from being flooded by the river. You will also note, the City of Greeley, by their own figures,spent $70,000.00 running the city dump for three - fourths of a year for wages only, which would cost approx- imately $100,000.00 for one year's operation, exclusive of trucks, dozer, loader and motor patrol. At the time we entered into this contract, they were ready to spend $48,000.00 for a piece of ground, plus $150,000.00 for machinery to maintain said dump. Unless our volume increases appreciably, when all burning is stopped in 1970, we should be able to run land site #1. WELD CO.
