RE: Access to WCR 1
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Seifert:
The Board of Weld County Commissioners has reviewed your letter of April 16, 1998, and
reconsidered your request for an additional access south of the creek that crosses your
property. Our position has not changed since we originally reviewed your request on
February 9, 1998. Our concern is for the safety of the traveling public. The reasons we
are denying your request are the heavy traffic on WCR 1 and the physical restrictions at
the access point.
We realize the access you have requested is similar to others on WCR 1. However, Weld
County takes every opportunity to eliminate accesses on high traffic roads and does not
allow new ones unless it is absolutely necessary. The elimination of your most northern
access was not at the request of Weld County but came as a result of improvements you
made to your property. The land south of the creek can be accessed by using the existing
bridge on your property.
The Commissioners have considered your request on two separate occasions and feel this
letter should resolve the issue.
Sincerely,
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
I

Dear Don Somer:
We received your letter dated Feb. 12, 1998 and was to say the
least dismayed by your response. After further thought we are
requesting the board to reconsider the access south of the guard-
rail to our property.
The traffic count is something we are familiar with. However,
this is our home and it is something you learn to live with on a
stretch of highway such as this.
The width of the driveway requested is no different than existing
ones servicing even gas wells on WCR 1 .
We have given up the one access to the north, where pulling out
from behind trees was a hazard. So, to access from an open area,
with far greater field of vision is what we feel would be more
appropriate.
In closing we feel that we are not asking for anything more than
what was in place originally on the property which was two
accesses onto WCR 1 .
We look forward to being able to state our case in front of the
Commissioners in person if necessary.
Since ly,
Gang b Seifert
