However, the following requirements must be met: 1. The cistern must be constructed with acceptable materials, eg. s.ainless steel. 2. The system must contain an automatic chlorination device with an alai:n which will sound if it malfunctions. 3. The water must be originally obtained from a tested potable source. 4. Water entering the plant from the system must be periodically tested for potability. Please understand that USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service expects and insists that all water used to process meat and poultry and to sanitize the facility be ample in supply and potable at all times.
