Dear Mr. Shay:
RE: New Long Range Plan of Work
This letter is in response to your request for comments on the Long Range Plan of Work. In conferring with the
Public Works Department, the concerns are as follows:
1. Proper irrigation management by landowners
a. Reduce impacts to county right-of-way
b. Reduce water quality/contamination problems for downstream landowners
2. Proper vegetation/reclamation techniques
a. For replacing exotic, non-native plans (noxious weeds)
b. For slowing down the loss of native species
•
3. Under Soil Erosion, Tree Program
a. It is suggested that the maintenance for the living snow fence is the responsibility of the
property owner.
If you have any questions, please call Frank B. Hempen,Jr., Public Works Department, (970)356-4000 Ext. 3750.
Sincerely,
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

RE: New Long Range Plan of Work
The West Greeley Soil Conservation District is in the process of developing a new Long Range
Plan of Work. This Plan of Work will guide the district's activities for the next 5 years. The normal
procedure for something of this nature is to hold a meeting, but we realize how many meetings we all
attend and feel we can accomplish the same result without another one.
Enclosed is a list of conservation concerns from our old Long Range Plan and an outline of
concerns for our new plan. We would like you to review our planned activities, make comments and
note any new activities you feel would be beneficial to our cooperators. We would ask that all
comments be returned to us by September 16,1998.
If you have questions or additional comments feel free to contact our office at (970) 356-8097.
Comments may also be faxed to (970) 351-0392. Thank you for your help.
