We acknowledge receipt of your October 25, 1999 letter. We are ai

disappointed that you find our billboards offensive. However, we believe your
misunderstanding about the intent of our advertising campaign would have
been avoided if you had only granted us a reasonable opportunity to address
your concerns before your public resolution was issued against us. Board^(Diu,r lot,

ethnic groups and nationalities. Our billboards are not designed to convey it lllniI :011r ill (,Plc r it
stereotypic messages but, rather, to reach the widest possible audience of r: 1,, P,
prospective clients. 'The professional model who appears on our current

Care Net is well aware that unwanted pregnancies are experienced by
women in all different socio-economic, religious and ethnic groups. Care Net

has never sought to communicate by word or deed that only dark-skinned
women get pregnant and need assistance. Besides our billboards, we promote
our centers' services through various other visual media, including television Advisory m u d
spots and brochures. These include depictions of women from different racial ::c, rli..d,(II rm

groups, including light-skinned women.

principles is already reflected on a daily basis as our centers provide free,
caring and nonjudgmental help to thousands of women facing pregnancy and h u,

We fully intend to continue in upholding these standards and values in
our future advertising efforts and in our compassionate outreach to all women.
