My land, the proposed land and a couple other neighbors land, together, represents the last significant sizable undeveloped land anywhere in the immediate area. As you know, developers in conjunction with the Town of Mead, have turned this formerly productive agricultural area into an urban area with all the problems associated with urbanization. Boulder County has recognized this problem and has acquired about three quarters of a section just west of our Weld County land. If the law allowed, I am sure they would have purchased the proposed subdivision for open space to stave off' the ruinous development we have seen all around us. We would have no serious objection to granting housing within the usual Weld County rule of one house per 80 acres, or even a house per 40 acres, but to urbanize a formerly pristine farm field is just plain greed and an environmental disaster.
