Re: Wattenberg Road Bridge
Dear Mr. Anderson:
My clients, Lupton Bottom Ditch Company, are appre-
hensive about the way the Road and Bridge Department of Weld
County has constructed the new bridge across the South Platte
River where the Wattenberg Road crosses the river.
Mr. Ray Sarchet, President of the Lupton Bottom
Ditch Company, has discussed this with you. You have
reassured him that proper work will be undertaken to rip -rap
the area to prevent erosion of the bank of the stream.
However, in its present condition there is a very
grave danger that an entire new channel can be created.
A new channel will by-pass the Lupton Bottom Headgate. I
am sure that you realize the seriousness of the problem.
This is not a problem where anyone should dictate
to the Board of County Commissioners, but the Directors of
Lupton Bottom believe that a serious mistake has been made
in the manner of construction with solid concrete piles
and no protection to avoid change of channel. I have been
requested to write this letter in the hope that you will
review the situation and provide proper protection immediately.
