County for the purpose of reviewing different roadway configurations and for the
addition of a concrete box design for the project

RE: Realignment of Road to Bridge Project 19.5/36B

Brief description of the problem/issue:
Weld County hired HLA Infrastructure to design Weld County Bridge 19.5/36B across the St. Vrain Creek. During
the preliminary design of the bridge, it was determined that we could create a safer situation at the bridge site by
moving the bridge and roadway to the east and straighten the road. To verify that this was possible, we needed
additional survey data to the east at a cost of$2,227.50. This cost included 7.5 hours of surveying, 12 hours of
engineering and 7 hours of drafting.
By straightening the roadway, we also lengthened the project limits, and we were able to replace an old timber box
that is collapsed. This added $2,280.00 to the design phase.
The total change order for HLA Infrastructure would be $4,500. The bridge grant would cover $3,600 and $900
would be paid by Weld County. This change order would not put us over budget for the project.
What options exist for the Board? (Include consequences, impacts, costs, etc. of options)
1. Approve or deny the additional costs for the project.
