RE: APPROVE SIX CHILD CARE CAPACITY BUILDING GRANT CONTRACTS AND
AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with six Child Care Capacity Building Grant
Contracts between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Social Services, and Theresa's
Tall Giraffes, Over the Rainbow Child Care, and My Friends and Me Learning Center,
commencing March 1, 1998, and ending March 1, 2001; and Sherrie Peif, Rhonda Button, and
Betty Ortega, commencing March 15, 1998, and ending March 15, 2001, with further terms and
conditions being as stated in said contracts, and
WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said contracts,
copies of which are attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, ex-officio Board of Social Services, that the six Child Care Capacity
Building Grant Contracts between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the
Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Social
Services, and Theresa's Tall Giraffes, Over the Rainbow Child Care, My Friends and Me
Learning Center, Sherrie Peif, Rhonda Button, and Betty Ortega, be, and hereby are, approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chair be, and hereby is, authorized
to sign said contracts.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 30th day of March, A.D., 1998, nunc pro tunc March 1, 1998.

RE: Child Care Capacity Building Grant Contratts Between Weld
County Department of Social Services and Various Recipients
Enclosed for Board approval are Child Care Capacity Building Grant Contracts between the
Weld County Department of Social Services and various recipients. These contracts were
developed under the auspices of Weld County's Child Care Capacity Building Grant between the
Weld County Department of Social Services and the Colorado Department of Human Services.
The Board approved the grant in September 1997.
The purpose of the Child Care Capacity Building Grant was to increase the number of child care
slots in licensed child care homes and child care centers. The Child Care Capacity Building
Grant Committee and the Weld County Department of Social Services are recommending the
distribution of these grants funds totaling $31,633.15 to recipients as follows:
1. Theresa's Tall Giraffes - Deborah Adler: The total award would be $1,425 for the
purposes of purchasing educational materials, puzzles, outdoor equipments, mats and
tables.
2. Over the Rainbow Child Care- Cheri Villani: The total award would be $3,175 to
add a room to be used for infant and toddler care.
3. My Friends and Me Learning Center-Peggy Burdan: The total award would be
$19,443.15 for the purpose of purchasing four glider rockers, educational materials and
supplies for infants as itemized in J. L. Hammett Co. request order.
4. Sherrie Peif: The total award would be $1,679.04 for purposes of basement repairs
according to Craftsman Home Improvements and Remodeling bid.
5. Rhoda Button: The total award would be$4,506.99 to install a 6 Ft. fence from Hugh
M. Wood, installation of the fence by Helping Hands, and carpeting from the Carpet Mill.
