HomeMy WebLinkAbout950404.tiff RESOLUTION RE: CONDUCT SPECIAL ELECTION OF JUNE 13, 1995, BY MAIL BALLOT ELECTION WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, by separate Resolution dated March 8, 1995, the Board has set a special election for June 13, 1995, to consider one or more issues initiated or referred by the electorate, which issues doe not involve elections or recall elections concerning partisan candidates and will not take place on the same day as a Primary, General, or Congressional vacancy election, and WHEREAS, since January 1, 1991, the Mail Ballot Election Act has allowed political subdivisions of the State of Colorado, including counties, to conduct certain elections in accordance with the Mail Ballot Election Act, and WHEREAS, the Weld County Clerk and Recorder has presented a plan to the Secretary of State for conducting a mail ballot election, and WHEREAS, pursuant to C.R.S. Section 1-7.5-104, it is the option of the governing board of any political subdivision to determine if an election, which is otherwise eligible, shall be by mail ballot, and WHEREAS, the Weld County Clerk and Recorder estimates that conduct of the Special Election by mail ballot will result in a substantial savings to the taxpayers of Weld County. The Mail Ballot Election Act, Section 1-7 . 5-104 , C.R. Describe procedures for signature verification: Return ballot envelopes will be verified against voter registration including number of ballot mailed, date of return. 15 . Describe procedures to ensure secrecy of ballots : Secrecy envelope will be provided with the official ballot mail out and return envelope . At the time of processing for counting, the large stub will be removed from the voted ballot before it is removed from the secrecy envelope. 16 .
