HomeMy WebLinkAbout980079.tiff RESOLUTION RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON WELD COUNTY ROAD 70 AT WELD COUNTY ROAD 47 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board that "Stop" and "Stop Ahead" signs be installed on Weld County Road 70 at Weld County Road 47, to ensure safety to the traveling public, and WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for the protection of the general public. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to install "Stop" and "Stop Ahead" signs on Weld County Road 70 at Weld County Road 47, for the safety of the general public, and said signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 19th day of January, A.D., 1998. A traffic study has since been done revealing that the intersection in question meets the warrants stated in item number one as stated below. Therefore, it is my recommendation to place stop signs as indicated in the attached diagram. The warrants are: 1. Intersection of a less important road with a main road where application of the normal right-of- way rule is unduly hazardous. Sight distance is restricted from two directions. 2. Street entering a through highway or street. 3. Unsignalized intersection in a signalized area. 4.
