COLORADO
TO: Drew Scheltinga, County Engineer DATE: January 8, 1998
FROM: Dean Dreher, Civil Tech Ill
SUBJECT: Placement of stop signs at WCR 70 and WCR 47
Due to the limited sight distance approaching the intersection of WCR 70 and WCR 47, Mr. Carl
Snow requested that the Weld County Engineering Department consider placing stop signs at the
intersection.
A traffic study has since been done revealing that the intersection in question meets the warrants
stated in item number one as stated below. Therefore, it is my recommendation to place stop signs
as indicated in the attached diagram.
The warrants are:
1. Intersection of a less important road with a main road where application of the normal right-of-
way rule is unduly hazardous.
Sight distance is restricted from two directions.
2. Street entering a through highway or street.
3. Unsignalized intersection in a signalized area.
4. Other intersections where a combination of high speed, restricted view, and serious accident
record indicates a need for control by a stop sign.
