RE: SUPPORTING INTERGOVERNMENTAL COOPERATION RELATED TO REGIONAL
PLANNING
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Cities of Evans, Fort Collins, Greeley, and Loveland, the Towns of
Berthoud, Johnstown, Milliken, Wellington, and Windsor, and Weld and Larimer Counties have
been conferring on a regular basis to discuss issues related to the growth of the region, and
WHEREAS, a regional planning study financed on a cooperative basis by the
aforementioned jurisdictions of Northern Colorado with assistance from the State Department of
Local Affairs has been completed, and
WHEREAS, said study has produced an inventory of natural and agricultural areas and an
inventory of growth management policies of the jurisdictions, and
WHEREAS, an analysis of the growth trends has recommended a regional framework for
addressing the common interests of natural and agriculture resource protection, establishing
resource and community linkages, maintaining separation of communities, preserving and
enhancing the identity of each community and maintaining the character of the region, and
WHEREAS, the several communities desire to continue cooperative efforts related to
regional growth management.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, hereby states its support for cooperation in regional planning efforts in Northern
Colorado.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that each community will engage its citizens
in discussion related to growth, and specifically on the ideas and recommendations in the reference
report.

The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 13th day of September, A.D., 1995.
