We believe that the actions taken by Weld County, specifically those taken since the Union Pacific railroad tracks have been removed, are causing the problems to intensify. During periods of high water in the South Platte River, the high road bed south of the river changes the normal course of the water, forcing it north and washing out a section of Road 87 north of the river. For the Jackson Lake Reservoir and Irrigation Company, this causes severe damages to the inlet ditch itself and many structures in the inlet. For the Riverside Reservoir and Land Company, the washed out road prevents access to the Riverside Reservoir. We ' re sure you realize the extreme danger of the situation if there were an emergency at the reservoir and Riverside personnel and heavy equipment could not gain access to the reservoir to make immediate repairs . We would like to set up a meeting with you and the County Supervisor to discuss the problems and our concerns. We can either meet in Fort Morgan or Greeley, or if you prefer, we can meet at the site to view the problems first hand. Please contact us with possible dates and times that you would be available for a meeting. We would like to resolve this matter before any further damages occur. We look forward to hearing from you. Dale and Dave explained to them that the water is coming from west of the bridge and belongs to private landowners. Weld County does not have any control of situations that arise off the County right-of-way. They will need to contact the private landowners with their concerns. They were also told that if they had other problems or wanted to discuss the issue further, a meeting could be set by contacting the commissioners or Dave Becker.
