Home My WebLink About982413.tiff RESOLUTION RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON WELD COUNTY ROAD 52 BETWEEN HIGHWAY 85 AND WELD COUNTY ROAD 41 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board that"45 miles per hour" and "35 miles per hour" speed limit signs be installed on Weld County Road 52 between Highway 85 and Weld County Road 41, to ensure safety to the traveling public, and WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for the protection of the general public. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to install "45 miles per hour" and "35 miles per hour" speed limit signs on Weld County Road 52 between Highway 85 and Weld County Road 41, for the safety of the general public, and said signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 14th day of December, A.D., 1998. Hempen, Jr. DATE: December 9, 1998 Director of Public Works/County Engineer FROM: Dean Dreher, Engineering SUBJECT: Speed limit change on Weld County Road 52 between Hwy. 85 and WCR 41 A request has been made from a concerned citizen to the Weld County Engineering Department to lower the current speed limit from 55 mph to 35 mph on the above- named section of road. A traffic study has been completed and revealed that there are sufficient warrants to lower the speed limit to 35 mph. The warrants are: 1. Vehicle speed data (85th percentile) . 60 mph 2 . Roadside development. There are 13 entrances. 3 . Accident experience. No reported accidents. 4 . Pedestrian activity. Increased pedestrian activity generated by 10 homes. 5. Road characteristics One curve located at east end of speed zone. 6.
