HomeMy WebLinkAbout982515.tiff RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS MINUTES BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES WELD COUNTY, COLORADO DECEMBER 30, 1998 TAPE #98-36 The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in a regular session as the Board of Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, December 30, 1998, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof: Commissioner Constance L. Harbert, Chair Commissioner W. H. Webster, Pro-Tem Commissioner George E. Baxter Commissioner Dale K. Hall - EXCUSED Commissioner Barbara J. Kirkmeyer Also present: County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker Acting Clerk to the Board, Esther E. Gesick Comptroller, Claud Hanes MINUTES: Commissioner Webster moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services meeting of December 28, 1998, as printed. Commissioner Kirkmeyer seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. WARRANTS: Claud Hanes, Comptroller, presented the warrants for approval by the Board in the amount of$9,564.21. Commissioner Baxter moved to approve the warrants as presented by Mr. Hanes. Commissioner Kirkmeyer seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. ADDITIONS TO AGENDA: The following was added under New Business: 1) Consider Amendment to Social Services Division Policies and Procedures Sections 2.400 through 2.405 BUSINESS: NEW: CONSIDER AMENDMENT TO SOCIAL SERVICES DIVISION POLICIES AND PROCEDURES SECTIONS 2.400 THROUGH 2.405: Judy Griego, Director of Social Services, requested the Board approve a four percent increase for cost of living expenses. She explained the increase will cover Weld County certified foster care homes, special services rates for developmentally and physically 982515 BC0016 disabled, subsidized adoption, specialized group homes, and physicals for certified foster care home provides. Ms. Griego explained the terms and conditions for each of the services provided as detailed in her memorandum dated December 29, 1998. In response to Commissioner Baxter, Ms. Griego stated legislation was passed which allows the individual counties to set their own cost of living rates. Commissioner Kirkmeyer stated the increase from $86 to $90 for the one-time expenditure for clothing for the children is not sufficient and recommended it be increased to $125, and directed staff to increase the amount further if necessary. Ms. Griego stated an increase to $200 would still remain within budget limits. Commissioner Kirkmeyer moved to approve said amendment with a change in the increase for childrens clothing to be increased from $86 to $125 with a further increase if deemed necessary by staff. Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
