COUNTY CLERK AND CLERK OF BOARD PHONE 3032212 EXT. 21 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS fttmisiwawA July 26, 1967 Weld County Planning Commission Services Building Greeley, Colorado Attention: Mr. R. Heitman Re: 49th Ave. Ct. Road Dedication Dear Mr. Heitman: After careful review and consideration, the 49th Avenue Court Road Dedication, recommended unfavorable on June 6, 1967, by your Commission, has been given to the State Highway Department for their decision. Yours truly, The Board of County Commissioners Weld County, Colorado Chairman MHA/f ; /y 670256 -// BE ORE THE 1471D COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION R SOL!JTION OF REC) MENOATION TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Moved by George Mosier that the following resolution be introduced by the Weld vounty Planning Commission: Be it Resolved by the Weld County Planning Commission that the follow- ing be recommended unfavorably: The Road Dedication of 119th Avenue Court because: On May 22, 1961 the West Greeley Zoning was adopted and this area consisting of 9.16 'acres east of the proposed 49th Avenue Court to west 47th Avenue or the County Road was zoned commercial at that an access road of 401 just north of 23th Street was proposed. On April 21, 1965 an area of 12.3 acres .just north of this commercial area was rezoned to com- meroial for the purpose of a proposed shopping center. We feel the traffic on 50th Avenue should turn east on 27th Street to 47th Avenue and enter the proposed by-pass at 49th Avenue and the byppass and the proposed median outs at 50th Avenue and 49th Avenue be eliminated from the freeway and that only right turns on the west bound lane from 50th Avenue be permitted. Motion seconded by John Watson Vote: For Passage: Price Hopkins Philip Bowles Leonard Bartels Ronald Heitman Against: None The Chairman declared the motion passed and ordered that a certified copy of the Resolution be forwarded with the file of this case to the Board of County Commissioners for further proceedings. CERTIFICATION OF COPY I, Dorothy Hill, Recording Secretary of the Weld County Planning Commission do hereby certify that the above and foregoing Resolution is a true copy of the Resolution of the Planning Commission of Weld County, Colorado, adopted on August 3, 19666 , and recorded in Book II, Page No. of the proceedings of said Planning Commission. Dated this 6th day of June 1967 ' i` Recording Secretary, Weld County Planning Commission RIDER: The following is the recommendation of Bean, Lamont and Moberg: This request should be denied as undesirable and hazardous. The papposal oreates the following problems: 1. The J. S. 34 bypass was designed to carry traffic at high speeds. Every access point introduced into the highway deters from its original purpose and creates traffic hazards. 2. The opening of 49th venue :ourt would create three curb cuts within a half mile and two within a block eliminating the limited access nature of the highway. 3. The design of the Highland Park area emphasizes 47th ,venue as a main arterial and 50th as a collector street. 4. The proposed solution to the sight distance problem compounds the hazards of the situation, disrupts the design of the plat, and is undesirable from a traffic, safety and land use standpoint. 5. It is recommended that, if a solution cannot be developed to maintain the safety at 50th ':venue and U. S. 34, that this access point be eliminated and 47th Avenue be utilized as the main point of access to the by-pass. /0/ r PLAT OF SURVEY 1- 'CO. ,0h 00, g0ra8, , o 12(66, II/di fin• /(P Rest/ Aod'✓o a%ng C:' --2 —, --.%f/E'S Cinf oNK! 4z,eG.
