ON POTATOES AND P(;TATC DISEASES UNDER IRRIGATION . (To take effect January 1, 1915) The objects of these cooperative investigations shall be: To improve the potato industry of Colorado, through, 1. An investigation of the nature and causes of the potato diseases prevalent in the State and to find remedial or preventive measures therefor. 2. A study of the cultural and crop rotation factors in their relation to potato production. 3. The introduction or development of new and improved varie- ties of potatoes. 4. Other studies for the benefit of the potato industry. The field work will be conducted near Greeley, •'olorado, on an area of land provided by the I'oard of County :'ommissionere of creld County. I . The board of County Commissioners of ;,eld County agrees: (1) To lease the property consisting of 4C acres together with buildings and appurtenances (described in letter to Ir. W. A. Irminger of Greeley, Colorado, bearing date of September 8, 1914 ) s'or a period of ten (10) years at an annual rental of $1,000 per year. (2) To contribute toward the improvements to be placed thereon the suer of 42, 000. -2- (3) To sublease the above-named property to the United States Department of Agriculture for the nominal rental of l per year, renewable annually at the discretion of the Secretary of Agricul- ture for a period of ten (10 ) years. II. The Colorado College of Agriculture , through the Director of its Experiment Station, agrees: (1) To contribute supplies and equipment as occasion may permit . (2) To provide the use of laboratory facilities at Fort Col- lins, Colorado , for such special problems as shall, from time to time, be arranged for. (3) To designate sn agent who shall not be an employee of the United States Department of Agriculture, who shall have power to sell surplus crops grown on the land and apply the proceeds to the extension of experimental work to be conducted thereupon; the manner of these disbursements shall be decided upon jointly by the :director of the Colorado Experiment Station and a representative of the Bureau of Plant Industry. III. The Bureau of Plant Industry, subject to the approval of tpe Ceoretary of Agriculture, agrees: (1) To pay the salary h.nd traveling expenses of Departmental workers engaged in this problem. (2) To furnish other supplies, material, and labor not other- wise provided for. IV. The bureau of Plant Industry, the Colorado Agri- cultural Experiment Station,and the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County mutually agree: -3- (1) That the details of cooperative work conducted at this station shall be planned and executed by the Bureau of Plant Industry. (2) That publications in general of the scientific and prac- tical results of the work shall be made by the Department of Agri. culture, but in case of results having local application, reports may be furnished for publication by the Colorado Agricultural Experiment Station in such a manner as may be hereafter agreed upon. (3) That both the bureau of Plant Industry and the Colorado Agricultural ='.xperiment Station shall have the right to make alterations, attach fixtures, and erect additions to the buildings furnished by the Board of County Commissioners of :eld County whenever such alterations, fixtures, and additions shall be requisite for the efficient use of such buildings for the purpose herein named. (4) That upon the termination of this agreement the Bureau of plant Industry shall have the right to remove its alterations, fixtures, and additions, and all frovern .ent property. The Colorado Experiment Station shall have the right to remove such alterations, fixtures, additions, and state property as it may hereafter install.
