Weld County Board of Commissioners , Greeley , Colo. bentlemen: We duly received yours of the 25th inst. enclosing the H. A. Smith Road Petition. Mr. . Smith, we understand called upon you yesterday. He was in the office here today, and we have decided to ask the Board of County Commissioners to view the road. We , therefore , return the petition, to which we have added our signature; also send our check for $15 , and will ask that the County Commissioners look over this right- of-way as soon as possible. It seems strange that the Road Petition was not granted through Mr. H. A. Smith' s properties in 1912, along • with the other lands ; as this was the intention of the petition. Perhaps you will keep us posted as to what happens , as we are interested in having this road put through at an early date. Gentlemen: Answering yours of the 21st inst. , we would state that the right-of- way for the road from the.Platte River to the Burlington R. R. running along the South side of section 18 , Township 1 , Range 65 , Weld County, Colo. , has all been donated. Mr. Geo. Hodgson knows all about this road because he put the petition through on the request of Mr. H. A. Smith. The county have done considerable work on this road in the way of bridges and grading, particular at the west end of same. A. Smith road petition burr- ing filing stamp of date of Lay 7th, 1912. No action has ever boon taken un uhis Petition and on checking it over I find that all of the right of way for the road au petitioned for hue not been donated by the owners thereof, and before the road could lawfully be granted it would bo necessary for the Commissioners to rppoint •viewors to investigate the lino of proposed roEd End m: ko their report thereon and rocomr:ondation :for damages for lrnd taken for right of cry purposes. It will be necessary to make a doposit of u15. 00 to cover expanse of viewing road, which amount will be refunded when road is granted. On inquiry we find that Mr. H. A. Smith, who owns land immediately on the west of this section had already petitioned for a road to run from the Platte River directly east to the Burlington R. R. ; that this road was put through by Mr. Geo. Hodgson , and the petition and all papers in reference thereto ought to be on file in your office. This having already been done, we should not, therefore, be called upon to .put in another petition and perhaps if you draw Mr. Hodgson' s attention to this he will recall the incident.
