RE: APPROVE ASSIGNMENT OF TAX SALE CERTIFICATES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR
TO SIGN -TOWN OF ERIE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board now is the owner of Tax Sale Certificates #90-00602/94,
#90-00603/94, #90-00604/94, and #90-00605/94, copies of which are attached hereto and
incorporated herein by reference, which relate to property located just off the end of the runway
at the Erie Airpark, and
WHEREAS, said Tax Sale Certificates are now eligible for deed, and
WHEREAS, the Board has received a request from the Town of Erie for assignment of
said Tax Sale Certificates for the sum of $225, and to request the issuance of a Treasurer's
Deed, and
WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said assignment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the Weld County Treasurer be, and hereby is, directed to prepare
Tax Sale Certificates #90-00602/94, #90-00603/94, #90-00604/94, and #90-00605/94, for
assignment to the Town of Erie.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chair be, and hereby is, authorized
to sign any necessary documentation to affect said assignment.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 29th day of September, A.D., 1997.

Dear Doug:
During our discussion on Friday, we discussed the Bankruptcy Trustee's Deed the Town recently
obtained. I have attached the Tax Sale Certificate of Purchase which may contain overlapping
property. It is my understanding that the Town is still interested in acquiring the Treasurer's
Deed once it is issued to the Board of County Commissioners and that there is no conflict
between the Bankruptcy Trustee's Deed and the ripening of the Certificate into a Treasurer's
Deed which would then be transferred to the Town Board of Erie.
Please review the enclosed documents and advise me if my assumptions are incorrect.

COLORADO
The Town of Erie holds a bankruptcy Trustees Deed for a parcel at the end of an Erie Airpark
runway. The County holds a Tax Sale Certificate for the parcel which is eligible for deed. The
Town is willing to offer$225.00 for the costs associated with the issuance of the deed but is not
offering to pay the back taxes which are $369.62. The costs and interest raise the tax bill to
$541.38.
The property has little value to anyone other than the Town as it is affected by runway traffic.
The County would have no use for the parcel.
I would recommend placing the matter on the agenda to consider assigning to Erie for less than
the taxes owed.
