In response to this growing need for information, the Colorado Department of Human Services is instituting new methods to receive and respond to these questions and issues. Effective immediately, we invite you and your staff to forward Colorado Works questions and issues regarding rules, procedures and policies to the Department in the following ways: Internet E-Mail: coworks.issues@state.co.us. Do not leave names, case numbers, social security numbers, etc. in your messages. These forums are not intended to address case-specific questions, staffing and/or other personnel issues that require an immediate response. For those issues, we will issue a formal agency letter. An important part of these new procedures will be ensuring that this information is widely disseminated. On a timely and periodic basis, State Department staff will review the questions and issues that have been raised, prepare comprehensive answers, and mail them to each County Director and other designees. Once received, we encourage you to share the information with all county department staff and County Commissioners. Additionally, anyone with an Internet e- mail address can request to be placed on an electronic distribution list to receive the information automatically. You can do so by sending a message with your e-mail address to the e-mail address listed above, or by completing the attached form(s). Eventually, we will make this information available on our website. We think these new services will greatly aid in communication and clarification regarding Colorado Works rules, procedures and policies. It will also give us a better idea of what the concerns are in the counties about welfare reform. We are committed to providing the best possible consultation and answering your broad policy questions timely and comprehensively. We ask you to share this letter with all county department staff, and provide feedback as to other ways in which we can work together to make Colorado Works a success and to improve upon the State/County Department partnership.
