RE: SETTING THE AMOUNT OF COMPENSATION FOR ELECTION JUDGES AND
BRANCH REGISTRARS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS; Section 1-6-115, C.R.S., 1973, as amended, allows that in all elections in
all precincts each judge of election shall receive not less than Five Dollars ($5) nor more than
One Hundred Dollars ($100) as full compensation for services as judge at any such election, as
shall be determined by the Board of County Commissioners, and
WHEREAS, as authorized by resolution approved by the Board February 26, 1997,
election judges are now compensated at the rate of Eighty Dollars ($80) per election; however,
the Clerk and Reccrder of Weld County has recommended the election judges be compensated
at the rate One-Hundred Dollars ($100) per election, with said increase being justified because
the election judges are required to attend a school of instruction for which they currently receive
no compensation, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has, after careful consideration,
deemed it advisable to approve the compensation as hereinabove stated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the amount of compensation for election judges be, and hereby is,
set at One-Hundred Dollars ($100) per election, if they attend the election judges school of
instruction and work on election day.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that this order shall be effective upon the
date of approval of this Resolution, and shall continue in full force until further Resolution of the
Board regarding election judge compensation.

Dear Mr. Barker:
Please place on the agenda a resolution to increase election judge pay by
$20 per election as compensation for attending a school of instruction.
This will give each judge $100 per election if they attend a school of
instruction and work on election day.
Judges now earn $80 per election with no compensation for attending a
school of instruction.
Sincerely,
1w
