HomeMy WebLinkAbout991227.tiff RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS MINUTES BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES WELD COUNTY, COLORADO MAY 26, 1999 TAPE #99-20 The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, May 26, 1999, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof: Commissioner Dale K. Hall, Chair Commissioner Barbara J. Kirkmeyer, Pro-Tem Commissioner George E. Baxter Commissioner M. J. Geile Commissioner Glenn Vaad Also present: County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker Acting Clerk to the Board, Esther E. Gesick MINUTES: Commissioner Baxter moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services meeting of May 24, 1999, as printed. Commissioner Geile seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. WARRANTS: Esther Gesick, Deputy Clerk to the Board, presented the warrants for approval by the Board in the amount of$24,149.14. Commissioner Kirkmeyer moved to approve the warrants as presented by Ms. Gesick. Commissioner Vaad seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. BUSINESS: NEW: CONSIDER CHILD PROTECTION AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES FOR CONSULTATION TO FOSTER PARENTS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN - ACKERMAN AND ASSOCIATES, P.C.: Judy Griego, Director of Social Services, stated this is an on-going agreement with Ackerman and Associates which provides consultation to foster parents in psychological and parenting support. For these services, the Department of Social Services will reimburse Ackerman and Associates $75.00 per hour for individual foster parent services and $40 per hour for group services for a total not to exceed $30,000. Ms. Griego stated the term of the agreement is from June 1, 1999, through May 31, 2000, and the funds will be provided by the Mental Health Core Services under the Family Preservation Program. Commissioner Kirkmeyer moved to approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Baxter, the motion carried unanimously. �. p /11 a, 991227 BC0016 CONSIDER CHILD PROTECTION AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES FOR FAMILY GROUP DECISION MAKING AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN - ACKERMAN AND ASSOCIATES, P.C.: Ms. Griego stated under this agreement,Ackerman and Associates will provide family group decision making services to 40 families involved in the process of protection and providing permanent plans for children who have been abused and neglected. For these services the Department of Social Services will reimburse Ackerman and Associates $1,875 for each completed conference for a total not to exceed $75,000 for the term from June 1, 1999, through May 31, 2000. Commissioner Geile moved to approve said agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Kirkmeyer, the motion carried unanimously. CONSIDER CONFIRMATION OF INTENT TO APPLY AS FISCAL AGENCY FOR PROMOTING SAFE AND STABLE FAMILIES PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN: Ms. Griego explained the State must be notified by June 1, 1999, as to whether the Department of Social Services wishes to apply as the fiscal agency for the Promoting Safe and Stable Families Program. She stated the Families, Youth, and Children Commission recommends the Department not apply based on the historical and future funding of the program. Commissioner Baxter moved to approve said confirmation of intent not to apply and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Geile, the motion carried unanimously. Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
