Gentlemen:
Senate Bill 258, effective July 1, 1969, authorizes the
creation of river basin authorities designed "to promote stabil-
ity of ground and surface water supplies and to encourage maxi-
mum utilization of and benefit from all water supplies within
the State of Colorado by planned management".
This letter serves as the call of the meeting of Boards
of County Commissioners of the member Counties of the proposed
Northern Colorado river basin authority. Said meeting, author-
ized by Section 7 of the Act, will take place at 7:30 P.M. on
Wednesday, August 20, 1969, at the Larimer County Annex, 201
East 4th Street, Loveland, Colorado. The purpose of the meet-
ing will be to consider and act upon the question of the crea-
tion of the Northern Colorado river basin authority.
If the authority is created, it is contemplated that
drectors of such authority will be selected at a subsequent
meeting, held within 90 days.
The Commissioners of Larimer County feel most strongly
that this opportunity to assume water management responsibili-
ties on a local level should not be disregarded. While the meet-
ing will serve as a forum for full discussion, we hope that each
of you will feel free to contact us prior to the meeting concern-
ing any questions that you may have. A copy of the Act and ap-
proximate boundary of the authority is attached.
