Dear Sir,
Have recently received a letter from Mr. Herman and Henry Johnston
of Erie, Colorado requesting removal of_1_mile of road near our old depot

also mail route.
As we are experiencing a good deal of vandalism in this area would also

This is the road we made an inspection of, on the ground some time ago.
If the railroad can be of any other assistance in this matter please
feel free to call.
In the event it is decided to close this road, please advise this

To the Board of County Commissioners

Greeley, Colo.
Gentlemen:
Confirming our conversation over the telephone
this morning, will say that I will give the ground, sixty
feet in width, continuing south from the beet dump on the
east side of the Denver and It. Collins Branch of the
Union Pacific Railroad in Sec. 24, Tarp. 1 E. , Rge. 68 W.
The neighbors are agreeing to donate sufficient
to pay me for this right of way. I will also add to the
donation.
This sixty foot right of way to be given you
for road purposes will be parallel to the east line of the
right of way of the Union Pacific Railroad, as set out in
my previous letters to you with maps showing the location
of the proposed road, and 1 am making this donation with
the understanding you will have this road completed in
time for the hauling of beets from the SV1 Sec. 24, Twp.
1 N. , Rge. 68 W. this fall.
Also, I want whoever makes the crossing across the
Brighton and Boulder Branch of the Union Pacific to use the
old mine dump pile near the beet dump as it is unsightly,
for one thing, and it is better material than common dirt,
for another and saves gouging out a hole on my land for dirt
to make the crossing, for another reason.
If you want a deed executed, you can have the
County Surveyor ascertain just the legal description of the
tract to be conveyed and 1 will execute it.
• Please hasten the work, however, as soon as
possible for the farmers want it for this fall' s beet
hauling.
Yours respectfully,

Gentlemen:
In reference to the road proposed at the sta-
tion of St. Vrain, as set out in the petition which
I enclose, together with my check for 415, the
neighbors having raised that amount and paid to me in
cash.
I also enclose a blue print, on which is marked
with pen in black ink the location of the proposed road.
There is already a crossing across the Union
Pacific south of the depot and the only new one in
addition to be built is east of the depot on the
Brighton and Boulder Branch. This will give all the
farmers to the northeast a short cut down to the
elevator and all the farmers to the south a short
cut to the beet dump. There is a good road along the
west side of the Union Pacific right of way from the
depot south at this time and also a crossing, so that
you only need connect up with this by making a
crossing east of the depot.
I hope you will get this thing through in
•
short order, so that the farmers can have it ready
this fall.
Yours respectfully,
C0E:MF
