Weld Commissioners
This letter is in request that you consider and vote on inactment of a
barking dog ordinance for the county.
Rural Weld County isn't what it was five or even ten years ago, with all
the new growth. I have seen as many as 12 new homes built within two miles of
me in the last 2 years, and we are slated for approximately 50 more over near
the Eaton Country Club. Rural Weld is fast becoming Urban Weld, and along
with the growth comes more pets. I am an animal lover and feel everyone should
own their chthice, and responsible owners soon add their pets to the family
and they become loved as part of the family. But then there are the irrespon-
sible owners who feel their pets may do anything they want, bark all night,
run loose all the time, chase every car, truck, farm equipment, joggers, bicycles
horbe back riders that happen by their property. That irresponsible owner soon
becomes an inconsiderate neighbor, with no regard to those around them. Then
those around them feel helpless in the situation because there are no laws,
which the irresponsible owner takes to mean as "open range". We in Urban Weld
need protection from these "pets" and their owners as much as those in the
city. A good many of us out here moved here to escape Greeley, the "City of
Barking dogs and Sirens", and to enjoy the peace and serenty of country life.
With more of the inconsiderate types moving out here, perhaps the laws & ord-
inanges should move out here with them.
Please consider these points and vote on a barking dog ordinance again.
Concerned for safety and peace of mind
in Urban Weld.
