Section 8 Utility Allowance Schedules
September 15, 1997
As discussed at the Housing Authority Work Session of September 15, 1997, HUD
requires that the Section 8 Utility Allowance Schedules be adjusted based on current rates
for utilities and other services. When a tenant has responsibility for paying for any utility
or service listed on the schedules, that amount must be added to the Contract Rent and
deducted from the total amount paid by the family. To determine the usage, HUD
provides usage information based on consumption by unit type. Actual average rates are
applied based on that usage. Separate schedules have been developed for single family
detached, duplexes and mulit-family types of units.
Staff is recommending Board approval of the revised Utility Allowance Schedules.
