Board of County Commissioners
Attn.: Docket#99-36
In reference to the above docket number request for a site specific Development Plan and Special
Review Permit#1226. We are requesting that this company not be allowed to continue doing
business within this area.
Our main argument is the fact that the value of the residential property surrounding this company
will decrease in value with this land being utilized as commercial property.
However,we have other concerns about this company continuing business at this location as well.
Among them are the fact that the description of materials that they plan On storing at the location
is different from what currently sits there now. In the description it is said that there will be I ton
trucks moving in ant out and being stored on site. This site now has flatbeds senn trucks moving
in and Out as well as heavy equipment being stored on site.
We discussed the use of road 50.5 and the consequences of this equipment using this road. At the
last hearing Lightning Wireline mentioned that they didn't need to use this road. Quite often they
do take very heavy equipment down this road.
What bothers us at a higher level is the fact that Weld County would allow a company to purchase
land and do business at this location without any argument. Weld County has a responsibility to
its citizens that when they purchase property in an agricultural area that it will be used in some sort
of agricultural way, We realize that growth and development will happen. But it should be
something that is equitable to all the citizens, especially the property Owners who purchased land
before the development occurred.
We purchased our home in 1989. At that time we researched the land and knew that I was
considered agricultural. We purchased our home across from a field Of horses and a farm. Now
we own a home across from a storage area for drilling equipment. NO, we are not happy just as
you would not be if your home decreased in value because someone decided that they would run a
business near your front yard.
We also would like to point out that this notice was published in the Ft. Lupton Press rather Than
the Greeley Tribune the paper that is read by the citizens that live in this area. We feel that this
takes away ffrom the reason that this notice should be posted publicly. The citizens of LaSalle
have a tight to know what is happening to the land in their area.
I would like to also point Out that one of Weld County's major concerns is in loosing agricultural
land to Commercial use. If this is such a concern, why don't we request that these businesses
relocate into areas of Weld County that are designated for Commercial use rather than allowing
the use of special permits.
Sincerely, &L P,/
