Hempen, Jr. DATE: December 3, 1998 COLORADO Director of Public Works/County Engineer FROM: Dean Dreher, Engineering Division /L/ SUBJECT: Placement of stop signs on WCR 28 at WCR 5 A concerned citizen requested the Weld County Engineering Department consider placing "stop" signs at the intersection of WCR 28 and WCR 5 due to the restricted view. I recommend the Board approve the installation of "stop" signs on WCR 28 on the eastbound and westbound approaches to WCR 5. A recent traffic study reveals that there are sufficient warrants to install stop signs at this intersection. The attached diagram illustrates that WARRANT NO. 1 HAS BEEN MET. The warrants are: 1. Intersection of a less important road with a main road where application of the normal right- of-way rule is unduly hazardous. SIGHT DISTANCE IS RESTRICTED FROM T TWO DIRECTIONS. 2. Street entering a through highway or street. 3. Unsignalized intersection in a signalized area. 4. Other intersections where a combination of high speed, restricted view, and serious accident record indicates a need for control by a stop sign. mV dean Astopsgn dd WCR 5 ADT 188 Corn field dopes from W to E / T 762'from ® 1 ( Intents:Moa NSP Hay field dopes from WtoE K Dr 634'from otm.ecdon 4- NSP ,► .
