TO WELD COUNTY
WE, AT B.O.S.S. COMPOST, ARE IN SUPPORT OF THE BEARSON DAIRY
EXPANSION. BEARSON DAIRY HAS BEEN WELL DESIGNED AND LOCATED TO
MAINTAIN DRY PENS AND DRY MANURE WHICH ARE ESSENTIAL FOR MAKING
COMPOST. BEARSON DAIRY HAS EXCELLENT NATURAL SOUTH SLOPE
DRAINAGE. THE SLOPE TO THE SOUTH PERMITS COMPOSTING YEAR AROUND.
• B.O.S.S. COMPOST HAS A MARKET FOR MORE COMPOST THEN BEARSON DAIRY
WILL PRODUCE WITH THEIR EXPANSION.
I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO MENTION THAT THEIR FLY CONTROL IS
WORKING WELL. THIS COULD BE ATTRIBUTED TO THEIR DAILY HARROWING OF
THE CORRALS AND LACK OF HOLES IN THE CORRALS THAT BECOME WET AND
/ BREED FLIES.
P ' THE DAIRY HAS A GOOD SET-BACK FROM ANY OF THE ROADS AND IS
ALMOST ONE HALF MILE FROM THE NEAREST HOUSE.

To Whom It May Concern
Bearson Dairy has applied for an expansion of their operations. This letter is in
support of that expansion. We are familiar with the Bearsons because they have
been in the area for many years and we have sold them feed for their dairy cows.
• They purchase their feed locally from many farmers, thus contributing to their local
farm economy.
Their dairy is always clean and well maintained and their grounds, equipment and
fiscal management practices have always looked good to us.
Sincerely,
21 4-,

Re: Bearson Dairy Expansion
As an agri-business ourselves in Weld County, we at High Country IBA, LLC,
welcome the opportunity for a family-owned dairy farm business to expand to help meet
the needs of Colorado's booming population growth. It takes people like the Bearson
family to face the challenge of expansion that keeps Colorado's dairy business a factor in
the national fluid milk supply.
During the past several years of a growing business relationship with the Bearson's,
we have recognized and praised them for some significant management tools they have
instituted in the handling of animal waste and fly abatement. The Bearsons are one of
the pioneers in establishing a dairy manure compost program which along with a solid
fly control program has aided in eliminating a problem before it starts.
Over the past several years Weld County has issued many special use permits for
dairy farm expansion. We feel the Commission should issue this same permit to the
Bearson family thereby providing them the opportunity for future growth in the next
millennium.
Yours truly,
Gerald F. Hoyt, Owner

To Whom It May Concern:
Daryl Bearson is a fellow dairyman who lives three to four miles
away from me. I know he has applied to operate a larger dairy.
Being a dairyman myself I do not know or understand all rules and
regulations you have to abide by other than producing clean, sanitary
milk.
ht is getting to be a little frustrating when you are trying to operate
and the only way to operate economically is by expansion but with
our city neighbors moving in with all their educated ideas, where
does it stop. Personally I am going the other way and cutting back
because I cannot tolerate all the headaches and stress.
As far as a dairyman Daryl and the Bearson family run a very
clean, well organized dairy. He has been at current size for quite
eas sometime and I feel they are capable of handling and managing a
larger dairy.
Sincerely,
Howard Binder

RE: Bearson Dairy
To Whom It May Concern:
I have known the Bearson's for several years. During those years I have noticed
the Bearson's desire to keep their pens clean and in good condition. Darrell continues to
upgrade his waste management systems and has used composting to reduce the odor.
As an agricultural lender, I see many livestock facilities. The Bearson's location
and manap;ement practices are better than many I have seen. I have been on their site
several times and have never been on the property when the odor was offensive_

'[hey have been a customer of Agland Inc. in excess of ten years and have been a

Weld county is a large producer of agricultural goods. Therefore agricultural

I am writing this letter in support of a"Special Use Permit"for Bearson Dairy. I am
a salesman for&nimal health products and do business with many of the dairies in Northern
Colorado. I have done business with Bearson Dairy for a number of years. This is
a very well managed dairy. The cows are well taken care of,as is the whole
• reNi dairy operation. They have a very good outside pen management, keeping the pens
harrowed and dry. There is also a good fly control process in which they spray
every three days in order to keep the flies to a minimum. In my opinion this is one of
the cleanest dailies in Colorado. If you have any questions please feel free to call me

Dear Sirs ,
I have been doing business with Bearson Dairy
for about a year, and would like to lend my
support to their expansion proposal . They do
a very good job of producing quality milk,
while at the same time taking care not to offend
their neibors . I think it is the right of every
good milk producer to expand their herds in order
to increase revenues , and make themselves
more efficient. Expansion of facilities like
the Bearsons is good for all of us in the
community. Thank you for your consideration
on this matter.

IZe: Bearson Dairy expansion.
On March 8, 1999 I visited the Bearson Dairy at 9 743 Weld County Rd. 16 ft.Lupton,
Colorado. As a volume supplier of feed ingredients across the country,I must say that the dairies
in the state of Colorado,_as a group, are some of the best managed in the country.I believe that
the Bearson Dairy is one of the finest managed and maintained dairy operations in the state of
Colorado. The daily was extremely clean. The cows appeared very healthy, and their ability to
produce milk is excellent. Darryl Beat'son knows the dairy business very well, and has some of
the best help in the country. I strongly recommend an expansion. If you have any questions
please feel free to call 800-755-0391.

To Whom It Concerns,
We have known, and worked with Mr. Darrell Pearson for nearly twenty years .
Our veterinary practice provides veterinary service and care for his diary
cows . we have observed his operation as well as that of twenty other dairies
along the front range . He has always ranked at the top of our' dairies for
cleanliness of premises, health of cows and efficiency in operating his dairy.
The general health of his cows Has beer. excellent and his somatic cell count
(a measure of milk quality) has been very low, indicating good milk quality.
If he has a problem with his dairy cows ne always has been very quick tc
correct the problem. Hs has spent whatever time and monies it has required to
make sure his cows were kept healthy and comfortable. He manages his .fly
population by keeping his corrals clean all the time and utilizes a fogger
routinely during the summer months. He was one of the first individuals in
this part of the country to institute a composting operation for his manure
wastes to keep down the odor and to control potential fly problems . He also
has a lagoon system to control waste run off .
Mr. Pearson has shown over the last twenty years that he has excellent
management capabilities and has shown steady growth and improvement in his
dairy operation. He has always strived to keep up with new technolojes and
has implemented new technology whenever needed to improve his operation_ We
would have no reservations in recommending him for an expansion permit for his
dairy. His twenty plus years in the industry, his success and his excellent
operating techniques speak for themselves cone rn.i.ng his ability to manage his
herd and handle an expansion of his current *ration.

Dear Commissioners,

Benson family bias done business with our organization for many years. We know Darrell Thorson to be a
modern, progressive dairyman whoseidairy operation provides a living for two generations of his family es
well as his employees.
I'm sure you have seen the recent statistics ranking Weld County as fifth in the nation for agricultural
income. Weld County's dairy producers contribute a significant portion of this total. In order for our dairy
operations to terrain successful, they will and to the ability to expand and be at peak efficiency. The
Bearson's modest expansion proposal will allow them to opportunity to continue to remain competitive in
