I hereby certify that pursuant to letters dated April 4, 1995, and duly mailed by the County
Attorney's Office to property owners in Country Estates, Fort Lupton, Colorado, a public forum was
conducted to hear the landowners' desires concerning the closure or opening of Bruno Avenue.
Chairman Hall introduced all the Board members and staff present. Bruce Barker, County
Attorney, explained the format for the hearing and the background and history of Bruno Avenue.
Public testimony was opened and the following property owners voiced their opinions and
concerns. Albert Boerema stated his main concern is the fire department access. Kevin Kobza
requested the road be closed to keep traffic down and avoid more problems. Brenda Pauling
requested at least both ends of the road be closed, since the road leads nowhere and for security
purposes. Russell Miller requested the road be closed. Steve Steerman and Sue Tanguay
requested the two ends of the road be closed and the middle be left open. Rebecca Furr requested
the road be opened to non -motorized traffic only. Jim Webster, Ken Lahaye, Kathy Boerema and
Bunnie Chartier requested the road be closed. Cheryl Mitchell requested the ends be closed and
the middle be left open to ride horses on. Peggy Wilson submitted letters from the fire protection
district and people in the neighborhood. Chairman Hall stated the concerns and questions raised
will be researched by Public Works and Sheriffs Office staff in order to make an informed decision
which will be in public hearing form. Mr. Barker noted the option to vacate the road to certain uses
may require a replat of the subdivision restricting motorized vehicles on the plat. He questioned
the enforcement of such and noted the need for emergency vehicle accessibility. After further
discussion, Chairman Hall requested further comments be in written form and stated the owners
will be notified of a date for the decision.
This Certification was approved on the 22nd day of May, 1995.
