RE: ACTION OF BOARD CONCERNING WAIVER OF TEN-DAY WAITING PERIOD FOR
CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF THE SALE OF GUNS - SHERIFF'S
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article XIV, Section 14-9 of the Weld County Home Rule Charter,
the ten-day waiting period for consideration and investigation of bids submitted must be waived by
resolution of the Board for emergency purposes, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Purchasing has requested waiver of the ten-day waiting
period for the bid for the sale of guns for the Sheriffs Department, Bid Request No. B9600107, due
to the need to sell excess property, and
WHEREAS, State statute and the Weld County Administrative Manual require that all items
disposed of be declared surplus by the Board of County Commissioners, and
WHEREAS,the Board has been presented with bid proposals from B & B Guns & Ammo
for three AR15's (Colt) for$1,200.00; Grashorns Gunworks for thirty-six 686's and ten 66's (Smith
and Wesson) for$5,807.50; and Orchards Hardware/Ace Hardware for two AR15's (Colt), and ten
686's and five 66's (Smith and Wesson) for$3,137.00, for a total of$10,144.50, and
WHEREAS, the County has determined that certain equipment as described above, being
more fully described in said proposal which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by
reference, is no longer required for County use, and
WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners deems it advisable to waive the ten-day
waiting period for said bid, declare said equipment as surplus, and approve said bid proposals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the ten-day waiting period for the bid for the sale of guns for the Sheriffs
Department, Bid Request No. B9600107, be, and hereby is, waived.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, that the abovementioned equipment be, and hereby is, declared surplus.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the bid proposals for the guns listed as
excess property on Bid Request No. B9600107, be, and hereby are, approved.
