RE: APPROVE SECTION 8 UTILITY ALLOWANCE SCHEDULE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with a Section 8 Utility Allowance Schedule
from the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Weld County Housing Authority, to the
Department of Housing and Urban Development, with terms and conditions being as stated in
said schedule, and
WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said schedule, a copy
of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, ex-officio Housing Authority Board, that the Section 8 Utility Allowance
Schedule from the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Weld County Housing Authority, to the
Department of Housing and Urban Development be, and hereby is, approved.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 28th day of September, A.D., 1998.

RE: Section 8 Utility Schedule

As discussed at the Housing Authority Work Session of September 21, 1998, HUD requires that
the Section 8 Utility Allowance Schedules be adjusted based on current rates for utilities and
other services whenever there is a ten per cent increase in the rates. When a tenant has
responsibility for paying for any utility or service listed on the schedules, that amount must be
added to the Contract Rent and deducted from the total amount paid by the family. To
determine the usage, HUD provides usage information based on consumption by unit type.
Actual average rates are applied based on that usage.
Staff is recommending Board approval of the revised Utility Allowance Schedules.
