TO THE WELD COUNTY COMMISSIONERS: CLE%V 1
TO 11E1 7
The undersigned, residents and taxpayers of Weld County hereby demand by Petition that
Weld County pave that portion of Weld County Road #14 1/2 between Weld County Road #23
and Weld County Road #21. In support of our Petition we would enumerate the following
reasons why paving this section of road is imperative:
1. This section of Weld County Road #14 1/2 is a major arterial road for heavy oil trucks
lying as it does between the North edge of Fort Lupton and two major oil and gas processing
facilities to the West approximately two miles.
2. The dust created by this heavy traffic is a serious health concern to the eight families
living on this stretch of Weld County Road #14 1/2.
3. The health concern extends to the four families with children living on this unpaved section
and the five families who raise livestock.
4. Dust abatement treatment is not a realistic alternative given the physical characteristics of
the road itself and the nature and volume of the traffic.
5. A serious traffic safety issue is presented because of the dust, washboarding, and
potholes attendant with the traffic load as well as the vehicle speeds when vehicles go from the
paved portion of Weld County Road 14 1/2 on to the unpaved portion of this location.
6. The traffic counts taken by the County previously, are not accurate.
7. This area is in a rapidly developing area which continues to experience growth and attendant
Increases In traffic volumes.
For these reasons we request your immediate attention to this problem and your
allocation of budgetary resources to address paving this section of road in your 1997 time(‘'kebi

Dear Mr. Jensen:
The Board of Weld County Commissioners has received your petition regarding paving Weld
County Road(WCR) 14.5 between WCR 23 and WCR 21. The Commissioners are in the process
of considering the 1997 paving program, and WCR 14.5 will be included for consideration.
Presently, there are 28 projects being reviewed, 15 of which have been requested by citizens and are
comparable to WCR 14.5.
The Public Works Department will supply the Commissioners with the information on cost, traffic,
safety, and geographic data. The Commissioners will then use this information to prioritize all
candidate projects. Cost and traffic information was updated on WCR 14.5 as of this month.
You will be informed of the status on WCR 14.5 when the Commissioners have made their decision
on the 1997 paving program.
Sincerely,
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
