RE: ESTABLISH MINIMUM VALUE OF FIXED ASSETS TO BE INVENTORIED IN WELD
COUNTY
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 98-032 (Section 29-1-504, C.R.S., as amended) effective ninety
days after the adjournment of the general assembly on May 6, 1998, provides that the Board of
Weld County Commissioners may establish a minimum value not to exceed $5,000 for property
with a useful life of at least three years to be inventoried by Weld County, and
WHEREAS, the Comptroller and Director of Finance and Administration recommend the
minimum value for said property, hereafter referred to as "Fixed Assets," be increased from
$500 per item to $1,000 per item, unless such property is real property owned by Weld County,
other than rights-of-way, roads, or bridges.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the minimum value for Fixed Assets be, and hereby is, increased
from $500 to $1,000 effective September 1, 1998; and that said Fixed Assets, with a useful life
of at least three years, be inventoried.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said change in minimum value for Fixed Assets does
not change the current policy that all real property, other than rights-of way, roads, or bridges,
be considered capital items to be inventoried regardless of value.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Comptroller be, and hereby is, directed to
remove all items of property on the Fixed Assets Inventory List as of September 1, 1998, which
are valued at less than $1,000, except items of real property.
