Gentlemen:
Following our previous conversation accept this as a formal
notification of my intention to resign as Director of the Weld
County Civil Defense Agency - a position you established in
January 1962.
Please accept my appreciation for your appointment. It has
provided many experiences and we have had many interesting and re-
warding contacts.
Civil Defense will always need promotion. With the National
Shelter program underway and the Shelter Areas in existing buildings
marked with signs and now in the process of being stocked with
provisions there remains the task of providing training for individuals
who will be shelter managers and radiological monitors.
It has been an education to be engaged in Civil Defense and we
have become convinced of it's importance to the survival and recovery
of our nation in event of a nuclear experience whether by accident or
enemy action. If we were not planning to accept employment elsewhere
we could in good conscience continue.
Personal plans necessitate my resignation effective not later
than March 5th, 1963.
