BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES
WELD COUNTY, COLORADO

The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in a regular
session as the Board of Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the
State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in the Weld County Centennial
Center, Greeley, Colorado, December 14, 1998, at the hour of 9:00 a.m.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following
members were present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof:
Commissioner Constance L. Harbert, Chair
Commissioner W. H. Webster, Pro-Tem
Commissioner George E. Baxter- EXCUSED
Commissioner Dale K. Hall
Commissioner Barbara J. Kirkmeyer
Also present:
County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker
Acting Clerk to the Board, Esther E. Gesick
Director of Finance and Administration, Don Warden
MINUTES: Commissioner Webster moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social
Services meeting of December 9, 1998, as printed. Commissioner Kirkmeyer
seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously.
WARRANTS: Don Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, presented the warrants for
approval by the Board in the amount of$14,870.22. Commissioner Kirkmeyer
moved to approve the warrants as presented by Mr. Warden. Commissioner
Webster seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
BUSINESS:
NEW: CONSIDER GENERAL ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES AND
AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN - WELD COUNTY DENTAL SOCIETY: Judy
Griego, Director of Social Services, stated this is an annual agreement which is
funded by Weld County General Assistance Funds in the amount of$17,000.
She explained the Weld County Dental Society will provide dental services to low
income Weld County residents and will be reimbursed a maximum of $165.00
per year. Commissioner Kirkmeyer moved to approve said agreement and
authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Hall, the motion carried
unanimously.

CONSIDER GENERAL ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT FOR SERVICES AND
AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN - WELD COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF
OPTOMETRISTS AND OPHTHALMOLOGISTS: Ms. Griego stated under this
agreement the Weld County Association of Optometrists and Ophthalmologists
will provide vision care services to low income Weld County residents. She gave
a brief description of the cost for various services as described in her
memorandum dated December 11, 1998. In response to Commissioner
Webster, Ms. Griego stated the costs have increased over last year; however,
they are still very reasonable. Commissioner Webster moved to approve said
agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Hall,
the motion carried unanimously.
CONSIDER CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT COOPERATIVE
REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN: Ms.
Griego stated under this agreement the County Attorney's Office will provide
child support legal services, and the Department of Social Services will
reimburse the County Attorney a maximum of $67,195 for personnel, training,
travel, and operating expenses. Commissioner Webster moved to approve said
agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Hall,
the motion carried unanimously.
CONSIDER REVISIONS TO SECTION 6.000, COLORADO WORKS IN WELD
COUNTY AND CHILD CARE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: Ms. Griego
gave a brief description of the revisions which have been made to Section 6.000
of the Colorado Works in Weld County and Child Care Policies and Procedures
as described in her memorandum dated December 11, 1998. Commissioner
Kirkmeyer moved to approve said revisions. Seconded by Commissioner Hall,
the motion carried unanimously.
Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and
respectfully submitted by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
There being no further business, this meeting was adjourned at 9:10 a.m.
