We e requesting a permit to construct a building that would have restroom,
sho , and lunch facilities for the employees that work in the "Brooder"
area f our farm.
This the part of the farm where we grow our replacement hens (pullets),
and i arguably the most critical area of our operation since our future
prod ction is largely determined by the quality of hens we raise. We have
one y-old baby chicks trucked in from various hatcheries around the
coon . Each flock of approximately 30,000 birds spends their first four
mon s in this area before they are moved into the layer houses. During this
time ey are very susceptible to a wide variety of poultry diseases.
Ther fore, it is important that we do everything reasonably possible to limit
their xposure to unwanted pathogens.
As have grown, we have added employees in this area and now find it
nece sary to construct restrooms for these employees due to the distance to
the c osest restrooms. Additionally, we would like to add shower and lunch
facil' 'es in order to make needed upgrades to our bio-security program in
this ritical area. The showers will help prevent employees from
inad ertently bringing a disease in on their clothing. The lunchroom gives
the a place to take breaks and eat lunch where they won't come in contact
with other farm employees that are not "clean".

Altho gh we have not fmalized the plans for this building at this time, we
belie e that it will need to be about 30 ft. X 40 ft. to accomplish our needs.
It is o intention to keep the size at 1,200 square feet or less. We would
also 1 e to locate this structure near the center of our Brooder complex
betw en Brooder Houses #5 and#6. This is a relatively central location that
has ple space and would not cause a congestion problem. Please refer to
the e closed plot plan and the enlarged drawings of this area of our farm.
A1th gh we did not foresee the need for this structure when applying for
our e Permit, we feel that due to its small size, location and obvious need
and b nefit of this structure,this request does not constitute a material
chan e to and is within the scope of our permit
