The regular meeting of the Weld County Planning Commission was held in the office
of the Board of County Commissioners on Monday, July 11, at 2:00 P. M. John Wat-
son, vice-chairman, called the meeting to'order with George Mosier and Elmer
Shultz present. Also present was Price Hopkins. Absent: 'Art King and John
Wheeler. Trafton Bean was also present.
The minutes of the last regular meeting was read and approved as read. The min-
utes of the special meeting of June 14 was read and approved as corrected to read
that John Wheeler was not present, and that George Mosier made the motion that the
Planning Commission recommend to the Board of County Commissioners the approval of
the Petition of Edwin Gehring. Seconded by Elmer Shultz. Unanimously carried.
Trafton Bean attended and went over the Public Statement Regarding Zoning in Weld
County that had been prepared by his office. He felt that it would be wise to let
the Temporary Order Requiring Building and Use Permits issued by the Board of
County Commissioners run out. Then let the people ask for zoning and zone as they
want it. Get one area interested and get the people interested in zoning that
area and then after a few areas have been zoned the rest will follow with less op-
position.
It was decided to have the tribune print the Public Statement Regarding Zoning in
Weld County, and to talk to some of the Realtors and also Price Hopkins will talk
to the City Planning Commission to get, their help in getting zoning requests start-
ed. It was also decided to send copies of the Request for Zoning Study to the Ea-
ton, Fort Lupton and Brighton papers.
Mr. J. A. Parker of East Eighth Street appeared and protested the Petition of Farr
Farms for additional feed lots being granted. It was explained the Petition had
already been approved by the Commissioners.
The Petition of Roy Johnson, President, Northern Colorado Stockyard Properties,
Inc., for a very nice, modern masonary structure 90 x 90 feet, for use as a sale
barn, was presented. The building will be constructed according to latest and up-
to-date regulations and design. Building will be located approximately in he cen-
center of the 22 acres of the Southwest quarter of Section 29, Township 6 North,
Range 65 West of the 6th P. M., in Weld County, Colorado, belonging to Lowell K.
Adams. The strip of land is immediately east of the railroad.
