Box 596 Mead, Colorado 80542 January 17, 1995 Weld County Commissioners: As a 12 year resident of rural Weld county in the Mead area I am very concerned about the rapid expansion through annexation by the town of Mead. Weld county has always been known for its pro agricultural stance, lets keep it that way. I would respectfully suggest a moritorium on any further annexations and that the town of Mead turn their attention to the building, development and beautification of the down town business district. It has a seemingly uncaring attitu'e reguarling the wishe7 of most of the residents of the area. Many people are opposed to this type of uncontrolled growth. This was demonstrated at the January 4th Planning Board meeting. Just because a land owner approaches the town of Mead requesting annexation this should not be Carte Blanche for the town to approve every request without being able to provide adequate services and without carefull consideration to the concerns of other residents in the area and the impact it will have upon them. We are not opposed to controlled growth! But they dont seem to have any comprehensive plans and are going in all directions at once. Is there anything that the county can do to help our voices be heard? cc: Town of Mead, Board of Trustees cc: State Representative, Dave Owen cc: State Representative, Tom Norton cc: Longmont Daily Times -Call cc: Greeley Tribune :ect11\ yoffs an lland et: PtCcG 950201 Are You Concerned About Mead's Rapid Growth?
