Gentlemen:
We are writing in response Lo letters received from Lh e Weld County
Department of Planning Services and from Tuttle Applegate,Inc, consultants
for Land, Mineral and Water Development, both of which advised that Hall—
Irwin Construction Company had filed a Site Development Plan and application
for permit to operate a dry sand and gravel mining operation in the A (Agri-
cultural) -zone district.
Mining to take place at or near the NE - of Section 31 and the SSF1
of Section 30, all in Township 6 North, Range 66 West of 6th P.M. , Weld
County, Colo.
The Ackard family, sole owners of Tollgate Farms,Inc. and writers of this
letter own the WSW} of Section 29, Township 6 No. , Range 66 West of the 6th
Pi4. , Weld County,Co. (excepting for 5 acres in SE corner with ?welling)
We wish to voice our objection to a sand and gravel operation taking
place in the S-SEk of Section 30 adjacent to a well travelled country farm
road accommodating many farm residents a nl others and highly visible.
We would have no objection to this operation if it were confined to
lands in Section 31 lying along the north side of the Cache La Poudre River;
a similar mining operation the same company has had on the south side of the
river for many years. This would not be consuming good farm land in Sec.30
and would also be off the main well travelled road which makes a right angle
turn at the NE corner of Sec. 31 and extending eastward.
We will appreciate if our thoughts in this matter be given due consider—
ation and thanks.
