on WCRD2TE: November 2, 1998
COLORADO between Highway 85 & WCR 29
The Weld County Engineering Department has received a request from a concerned citizen to
lower the current speed limit from 55 mph to 30 mph on the above named section of road. A traffic
study has been completed and revealed there are sufficient warrants to lower the speed limit to 30
mph.
These warrants include:
1. Vehicle speed data (85th percentile).
N/A
2. Roadside development.
There are four entrances including a cemetery access.
3. Accident experience.
No reported accidents.
4. Pedestrian activity.
Increased pedestrian activity generated by the cemetery.
5. Road characteristics.
The steep hill located just east of Platteville produces a limited sight distance of
approximately 200 feet. Based on the criteria stated in Table 202.4 of the State of
Colorado Department of Highways Design Manual, the current sight distance
produces the need to post this area at 30 mph.
6. Hazardous locations (curves).
None
