wilkMEMORANDUM
COLORADO
TO: Drew Scheltinga, County Engineer DATE: January 8, 1998
FROM: Dean Dreher, Civil Tech III
i
SUBJECT: Placement of stop signs at WCR 72 and WCR 47
Due to the limited sight distance to the approach of the intersection of WCR 72 and WCR 47, the
Weld County Engineering Department is considering installation of stop signs at the intersection.
A traffic study revealed that the intersection in question meets the warrants stated in item number
one as stated below. Therefore, it is my recommendation to place stop signs as indicated in the
attached diagram.
The warrants are:
1. Intersection of a less important road with a main road where application of the normal right-
of-way rule is unduly hazardous.
Sight distance is restricted from two directions.
2. Street entering a through highway or street.
3. Unsignalized intersection in a signalized area.
4. Other intersections where a combination of high speed, restricted view, and serious accident
record indicates a need for control by a stop sign.
