Weld County for housing of persons sentenced to jail time by Municipal Courtt t '- BO'-" .1
Whereas, the county jail has served the needs of our municipality at a cost far below
the cost of operating our own jail; and
Whereas, there are occasions that persons awaiting trial or sentenced to jail terms
cannot be housed in present facilities; and
Whereas, the present county jail is too small to meet the needs of the county and all the
other jurisdictions dependent upon the county for operation of a jail; and
Whereas, the Sheriff and Weld County Commissioners have projected the need for
additional space and thoroughly analyzed alternatives for meeting this need in a cost effective
manner, and have determined that a new jail on a site in the Weld Business Park would be the
best option: and
Whereas, the Council of G re (your town or city) has reviewed the
county plan and found this plan to he consistent with the Weld Business Park PUD and has
approved a final PUD Plan for a new Weld County jail in Tract A. south of O Street in the
Weld Business Park.
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Council of fOsIe( (your town or city),
Colorado, supports the construction of a new county jail on O Street in the Weld Business
Park and urges citizens to vote YES on county measure 1 A on the November 7 general
election ballot.
