Salaries Set for Weld County's Elected Officials
At the August 18 meeting of the Weld County Council in Milliken, CO the Council
fulfilled its Weld County Home Rule Charter responsibility to set salaries for the
County's Elected Officials.
As salaries must be set before the officials begin their terms, the Council set
salaries for the years 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 at $46,000 for the Weld County
Assessor, Clerk/Recorder, Coroner, and Treasurer. The Weld County Sheriffs salary
was set at $50,000.
Salary for Weld County Commissioners is set every two years and the Council
set the Weld County Commissioners' salary for the years 2001 and 2002 at $48,000.
If Weld County was not a Home Rule County, the County's elected officials'
salaries would be set by Colorado Statute. As of January 1, 1999 the Colorado Statute
set salaries would be $63,203 for the Assessor, Clerk/Recorder, and Treasurer and the
Sheriffs salary would be $71,293.
