As your Department has been aware for some months, the Tabares' septic system has been in a state of failure for an extended period of time, and has seeped disgusting, unhealthy effluent onto the Masons' property. This foul smelling effluent endangers the Masons and their children, severely restricts their use and enjoyment of their property, and diminishes the value of their property. On February 18, 1997, you co-authored a letter to the Tabares' giving them 2 days to obtain a repair permit and 60 days to correct and repair their septic system. I understand that now, almost four months later, the Tabares' have only recently pulled a repair permit, and that repairs on the system have not even been commenced yet. Given the nature of this noxious and unhealthy situation, the Masons hoped and expected your Department would have been diligent in pushing the Tabares' to fix this problem. For reasons we don't understand, you have not been. We ask that you please enforce your own directives and see to it that the Tabares' immediately correct this problem so that the Masons can allow their own children to go outside their own home to enjoy the summer. Very truly yours, JG/ev pc: Ed and Laura Mason Weld County Commissioners d:J971,f:stoll.let t&: eh; PL;h'L;Bx 1400 MAIN STREET, SUITE 200 • LOUISVILLE, CO • 80027 • 303 / 666-4557 • FACSIMILE 971675 Hello
