HomeMy WebLinkAbout951209.tiffRESOLUTION RE: APPROVE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE FOR MIGRANT HEAD START TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE GRANT WITH DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AND AUTHORIZE CHAIRMAN TO SIGN WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with an Application for Federal Assistance for a Migrant Head Start Training and Technical Assistance Grant, between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Division of Human Services' Family Educational Network of Weld County, and the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, with terms and conditions being as stated in said application, and WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said application, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Application for Federal Assistance for a Migrant Head Start Training and Technical Assistance Grant, between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Division of Human Services' Family Educational Network of Weld County, and the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services be, and hereby is, approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chairman be, and hereby is, authorized to sign said application. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 12th day of June, A.D., 1995. REMARKS PART IV PROGRAM NARRATIVE(ATTACH PER INSTRUCTION) BUDGET NARRATIVE PA20 T & TA PY 95-96 The $5,000 in Training and Technical Assistance Funds will be used to train Migrant Head Start staff in the off season to upgrade skills and CDA- required needs. Enclosed for Board Approval is the Grant Request to the Department of Health and Human Services Migrant Head Start Branch for the Program Year 95-96 additional Training and Technical Assistance Funds for the Migrant Head Start Program. The total amount allocated for this purpose is $5,000. These funds will be used to pay for training to increase the educational levels of the Migrant Head Start staff between program years. This would include making sure all teachers are at the CDA level, upgrading teacher aides to CDA level, having all Service Coordinators fill their Directorship educational requirements, as well as any other basic skill upgrades for all Migrant Head Start staff.
