71st Avenue has been our home avenue for over twenty years and
we are not wanting to see it become a major 4 -lane arterial road. We
helped pay for the present 2 -lane paved road several years ago
because we were told it was a residential road, not a major county
route. Since paving, it has become a heavily used road for HP and
the other businesses in the area. This has been a major disturbance
to our lives already, and a 4 -lane divided highway -would destroy
many homes along this section. So it would be much more resident
friendly to leave it a 2 -lane road and look at widening a road south
of the Highway 34 bypass or using 83rd Avenue. We hear the
planners say there is little traffic using 83rd Avenue but there was
little (maybe 10 cars an hour) using 71st Avenue before it was
paved. So we know if you pave 83rd Avenue it will be used. Let's
be sensitive to the home owners along 71st Avenue and keep this
road the way it was intended, an area use road, not a super highway.
