HomeMy WebLinkAbout600066.tiffIN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION RE: CONCURRENCE WITH THE CCUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION'S RECOMhENDAtTION FOR GRANTING OF PROPOSED CATTLE FEEDING PENS BY DANNEN MILLS, INC.: • U tJd A,f WHEREAS,,The County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, have been fully advised by the Weld County Planning Commission in relation to the following Peti- tion of NOW, BE IT RESOLVED, that the recommendation -of the Weld"County Planning Commission be concurred in and the Petition be granted as follows: Construction of cattle feeding pens for 1,000 to 3,500 head of cattle for testing and feeding of Dnnen Feeds. Pit silo's to hold up to 4,000 tons of ensilage, two or more water wells to be put in, to be located on all of that part of NW4 of NE4 of Section 12, Twp 4 N, R 67 W lying South of the right -of-way of the Big Thompson, Platte River, and Bee Line Ditch, contouring 21 acres, more or less. M Weld County May 2, 1960 The regular meeting of the Weld County Planning Commission was held in the office of the Board of County Commissioners on May 2, 1960, at 3:00 P. M. Meeting was called, to order by the Vice-chairman, John Watson. Those present were: George Mosier, John Wheeler and Elmer Shultz. Absent Art King. Mr. J. K. Smith from the State Planning Commission also attended. The minutes of the last regular meeting and that of the special meeting on April 13 were read and approved as read. Ernie Scott presented the petition on behalf of Ray and Bus for the filing station, motel and cafe that had been brought up at the special meeting. Mr. and Mrs. James Milne attended and opposed the petition saying they felt it would be detromental to them. M. E. H. Smith, representing Dr. Alvin:Berg, also opposed it, saying that it would decrease the value of his home and the noise from the trucks starting and stop- ping would be great. Mr. Glenn Paul, from the Public Health Department, stated he would not recommend a cafe near a feed lot. Mr. Scott said he felt it was a good way of getting truck stopping out of town, as they would have access for both north and south bound traffic. John Wheeler said hb felt they could not approve a cafe so close to the feed lot. George Mosier said he felt it would be a traffic hazard. George Mosier made a motion to table the matter for 2 weeks or until May 16, so they could go and inspect the location. Seconded by Elmer Shultz. Motion carried. Mr. H. E. Waldo, representing Farr Farms Co., presented a petition for plans to con- struct modern cattle feeding yards on all of the parcel of land east of Greeley, south of eighth street road, extending east, North of Ogilvy Ditch and east of the Sugar Factor road. It is an extension of Petitioner's feed lots adjacent and south of the Cache la Poudre River. Signing the petition were Harvey Gehring, Route 4, Box 115, Greeley; Greeley Howard, Route 4; (Owner) Greeley Locker and Meat Co.,1115 7th Ave.; Albert C. Baab, Rt. 4, Box 117; Ralph H. Sall, Rt. 4, Box 118, Greeley; Bill S. Schelly, Rt. 4, Box 118B; Roy Ellsworth, Rt. 4, Box 118A; Karl T. Kohlhoff, Rt. 4, Box 116A; The Great Western Sugar Co., by L. E. Butler, Mgr. 1301 1st. Ave., all of Greeley. Bill Farr explained about the feed lot. John Watson moved that they recommend the approval of the Petition of Farr Farms for the adjacent feed lots to the Board of Commissioners. Seconded by George Mosier. Unanimously approved. Lee West, representing James L. Larson, for Dannen Mills, Inc., presented a peti- tion for cattle feeding pens for 1,000 to 3,500 head of cattle for testing and feed- ing of Dannen Feeds. Pit silo's to hold up to 4,000 tons of ensilage, two or more water wells to be put in, to be located on all of that part of NW4 of NE* of Sec- tion 12, Township 4, North Range 67 West of the 6th PM lying south of the right of way of the Big Thompson, Platte River, and Bee Line ditch, contouring 21 acres more or less. Signing the Petition were: Thomas Chesnut, Ben Bernhardt, Everett Sap- pington, Robert L. Sappington, Ben Stencel, Lawrence A. Read, Guy A. Shable, Alva L. Shable, and Richard W. Mann, all of Milliken, Colorado. George Mosier moved that the planning commission recommend to the Board of Commis- sioners the approval of the construction of said feed lot.
