Dear Mr. Meier:
The Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) is pleased to present you with the enclosed
floodplain resolution that designates and approves the FEMA floodplain information entitled
'Flood Insurance Study, Town of Severance, Colorado," dated September 1999. The Board, at its
regular meeting on September 27, 1999, approved the enclosed floodplain resolution.
Formal action on floodplain information by the Board informs local jurisdictions that their
floodplain information is in compliance with the provisions and requirements of the State of
Colorado's "Rules and Regulations for the Designation and Approval of Floodplains and or Storm
or Floodwater Runoff Channels in Colorado." This action enhances and strengthens a community's
ability to regulate land uses within their jurisdiction if they so choose.
The CWCB coordinates the flood control and floodplain management activities and programs for
the State and is the State Coordinator for the National Flood Insurance Program. We urge local
jurisdictions to continue utilizing floodplain zoning and land use regulations to prevent unwise
development within flood prone areas of the community.
If you have any questions or if we can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to call me at
(303) 866-3441.
Sincerely,
Thomas.-Browning, P.E.
