County Council Seeks Councilman for District
and Meets December 15
The Weld County Council, at its December 15, 6:30 p.m. meeting at the Weld
County Centennial Center, will discuss its search for applicants to fill the Weld County
Council position for District I. Interested persons should send/deliver a letter of
application/resume to the Council office by 5:00 p.m. January 5, 1999. The address of
the Weld County Council is 915 10th St. or P. O. Box 758, Greeley, CO 80632.
Applicants may check with Weld County's Election Department at (970) 353-3840 to
verify the boundaries of District I.
The Weld County Council consists of five nonpartisan members, one
representing each district and two at-large members. The Weld County Council,
created with the adoption of Weld County's Home Rule Charter, is a distinctive
organization offering citizens and employees of Weld County the opportunity to
participate in their County government.
In addition to reviewing all aspects of County government the Council has four
other functions described in the Weld County Home Rule Charter: 1) to set salaries of
elected officials, 2) to fill vacancies on the Board of County Commissioners, 3) to
suspend public officials charged with a crime, and to 4) review conflicts of interest within
County government.
The public is invited to attend the December 15 Council meeting and provide
ideas on issues concerning County government. Please call the Council office at 356-
4000 x 4780 if more information is needed.
The Council will meet for dinner before the meeting at Chili's Restaurant, 3840
W. 10th St., Greeley, CO.
